St. Patty's Day by Karen Salkin

In less than a week, the only “holiday” in March will be here, and a fun one it is! Yes, St. Patrick's Day is on March 17th, so I'm giving you this notice to get all your green gear in order right now.  In case you didn't know the legend, if you neglect to rock at least a wee bit of that shamrock color that day, you're liable to get...pinched!

That's right—it's a rule of the day! So I never take any chances. Plus, it's always tons of fun to play dress-up!

I've already polished my nails green (it never hurts to be uber prepared). I have my shamrock earrings at the ready, and all of my green outfits are laid-out.  Yes, I have been known to change a few times that day, to give all my green attire its fair share of attention.

And this year, I'll also be rocking my Lucky Green ClearClub night guard for the occasion!  Yes, that is the official name of our vibrant shade! I have a feeling I'll be a little extra tense while on the lookout for non-green wearers to pinch, so I might just wear my guard during the day, as well, to protect my teeth from all the clenching I'm sure to be doing. And also, of course, to be styling!

Once I'm all in my green habiliment and ready to rock on St. Patty's, I hope to whip-up some green snacks. Perhaps I'll cook a wee bit of corned beef and cabbage, which seems to be the official fare of the day, or maybe bake a lovely minty-green Grasshopper Pie. And, of course, I'll be performing an Irish jig in the kitchen as I work!

If you're into celebrating St. Patty's Day, as well, you can always watch some good old Ireland-heavy movies, such as Michael Collins, Once, In The Name of the Father, Darby O’Gill and the Little People, and, of course, The Quiet Man. Actually, anything starring Maureen O’Hara will qualify! Or Saoirse Ronan, for you more modern day folks.

St. Patrick's Day is one holiday that's fun for everyone, even the non-Irish. So have a blast!

I’m ending with an Irish blessing, which is very apropos today:

May the dreams you hold dearest
Be those which come true.
And the kindness you spread
Keep returning to you.

So be kind to your health by remembering to wear your ClearClub night guards. Especially in Lucky Green on the 17th! Erin go bragh!
